BREAKFAST FEEDING PROGRAM FOR GRADE I



1. The Bureau of Elementary Education through the Drop- put Intervention Program (DIP) is providing breakfast to Grade I pupils starting August 1999. Fifty (50) schools with high dropout rates from the school divisions included in the Social Reform Agenda (SRA) are the recipients of this program.

2. The experimental and control schools of the Lingua Franca Education Project from the sixteen (16) regions are also included in the program.

3. Foodstuffs for the feeding program consist of the following; supersnack beef, supersnack mongo, supersnack chicken, supermacaroni beef and supermacaroni chicken. These foodstuffs are in sealed plastic packs and prepared by the Philippine Nutrifoods Corporation (PNFC), an exclusive distributor of these food products. A certification to this effect is inclosed (Inclosure No. 1*).

4. The foodstuffs will be delivered to the district offices of the schools concerned. Delivery to the schools will be taken cared of by the district. Expenses in the delivery shall be charged against local funds subject to the usual accounting and auditing procedures, it is requested that the food stuffs be delivered immediately to the schools concerned upon receipt from the forwarder so as the feeding program can be implemented right away. The foodstuffs may still be consumed within thirty (30) days after the expiry date, as per instruction from PNFC. Inclosed are the list of schools and the guidelines for the feeding program (In- closure 2*).
