(NAR) VOL. IV NO. 2 / JANUARY - APRIL 1993

[ PPC CIRCULAR NO. 93-08, March 05, 1993 ]

ACCEPTANCE OF FAX MAIL SENT TO AN ADDRESSEE WHO HAS A FAX MACHINE, CLARIFICATION ON

It has been reported that a number of inquiries were received by Post offices whether FAX mail, i.e., message/document, addressed to a customer with FAX machine, even if it is not within the jurisdiction of the designated Acceptance/Delivery Post Offices mentioned in previous Administrative Order and Circulars, shall be accepted for transmission by the concerned Acceptance Post Offices.

Since the subject FAX Mail (Type A in the FAX mail classification) is transmitted by the Acceptance Post Office directly to the addressee who has a FAX machine, there is no postal delivery of FAX mail involved in the said service.  Thus, such type of FAX mail addressed to a customer with FAX machine in different areas of the country shall be accepted for transmission by all FAX Mail Acceptance Post Offices.

Regional Directors, Assistant Regional Directors, Chief Postal Service Officers, Postmasters, FAX Mail Operators and other postal officials and personnel concerned are hereby enjoined to bring the matter to the attention of the mailing public.

Adopted: 5 Mar. 1993
