CREATION OF THE NATIONAL MEAT INSPECTION SERVICE (NMIS) MEAT INSPECTION BOARD



WHEREAS, Section 6 of Republic Act No. 9296 otherwise known as "The Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines" mandates the creation of the Meat Inspection Board;

WHEREAS, the Meat Inspection Board shall assist in the formulation of policies and guidelines and advise the chairperson on all matters pertaining to meat inspection and meat hygiene.

WHEREAS, the National Industry and Advisory Council (NIAC) to the Meat Inspection Board shall be created to recommend or suggest policies relative to livestock and poultry and meat industry concerns and shall assist the Department and its agencies in the analysis and resolution of relevant concerns;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DOMINGO F. PANGANIBAN, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, by the power vested in me by law, do hereby create the Meat Inspection Board composed of the following or their duly designated representatives:

    1. The Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, as Chairperson;
    2. The Executive Director of the National Meat Inspection Service;
    3. The Director of the Bureau of Animal Industry;
    4. The Director of Bureau of Food and Drugs;
    5. The Director of Bureau of Local Government Development;
    6. The representative from a consumer organization duly recommended by the National Consumer Affairs Councils; and
    7. The Director of the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Product Standards

This Order takes effect immediately.
