AMENDMENT TO MC 2005-033 (REVISING THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT OF QUALIFIED PUBLIC UTILITY VEHICLES FROM BRAND NEW UNITS TO AT LEAST YEAR 2000 MODEL)



On September 29, 2005, the Board issued MC 2005-033, Re: Lifting the Moratorium on the Acceptance of Application/Petitions for New Certificates of Public Convenience (CPCS) for Tourist Chartered Services (For Brand New & Airconditioned Buses, Mini Buses and PUJs Only). In view of the recommendation of the Department of Tourism to accommodate public utility vehicle units which are not more than five (5) years old, reckoned from the date of manufacture, this Board is amending/modifying the third paragraph of the said MC, which should now read as follows:

 

“In view of the above, the Board hereby declares the lifting of moratorium on the acceptance of applications/petitions for new franchises of Tourist Chartered Services (at least year 2000 model and air-conditioned buses, A/C mini buses and 25-seater coaster type A/C PUJs only) to cover the one hundred ninety six (196) converted units or an aggregate total of 7,840 seating capacity, on a “First Come First Serve” basis and subject to standard LTFRB evaluation process”.

This Memorandum Circular supersedes any and all issuances inconsistent herewith, and takes effect immediately.
