DESIGNATED/RESERVED BUS SEATS FOR DISABLED PERSONS



This Office has been receiving complaints against Public Utility Buses operating without designated/reserved seats for disabled persons which is in violation of Rule IV of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Batas Pambansa Bilang 344 and LTO Memorandum Circular No. 95-169.

In view hereof, you are hereby directed to fully implement the provisions of said law and to ensure that reserved bus seat stickers are properly installed prior to registration. LTO law enforcers should see to it that all operating Public Utility Buses have these stickers on designated seats. Likewise, a monthly report on the issuance of said stickers shall be submitted to this Office, attention: Head, Operations Division.

Please be reminded that any person violating any provision of Batas Pambansa Bilang 344 or any provision of the Rules and Regulations thereof shall, upon conviction by a court of competent jurisdiction, suffer the penalty of imprisonment of not less than one month but not more than one year or a fine of P2,000.00 to P5,000.00 or both, at the discretion of the court.
