(NAR) VOL. 6 NO. 3 / JULY - SEPTEMBER 1995

[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 40, S. 1995, July 05, 1995 ]

STRICT OBSERVANCE OF VISA ISSUANCE POLICY BY THE JAPAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

The Japanese Embassy in Manila has issued an advisory on its policy of issuing visas and its strict implementation.

It emphasized the standing policy of all Japanese Embassies and Consulates worldwide where securing a Japanese visa is done in the country where the applicant is a national.

In case the applicant files for visa in a third country, i.e., a Filipino national applies for a visa in the Japanese Embassy in Hong Kong, the Japanese Embassy in that country will advise the Filipino applicant to apply for a visa in the Philippines and will refuse to accept said application.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has issued instructions to all its representative offices abroad to strictly observe said policy, especially for visa applications of Filipino performing artists.

Attempts of some Japanese Principals to get Filipino performing artists into Japan thru a third country are presently being addressed by the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Immigration Office of Japan with the watchlisting of the concerned principals; deportation of the Filipino performing artists; and investigation of the Philippine licensed agency.

For information.
