[ DOST SCC-8 RESOLUTION NO. 04, June 23, 2010 ]

UNANIMOUSLY INCREASING THE INCENTIVES FOR EACH SCIENTIST TO AT LEAST $2,000 EACH FOR EVERY TWO (2) YEARS WHICH MAY BE USED FOR FOREIGN TRAVEL OF SCIENTISTS WHEN PRESENTING PAPERS IN INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIA ASIDE FROM MEMBERSHIP/SUBSCRIPTION AND PUBLICATION ASSISTANCE



The Council,

Aware of the provisions of Sec. 4 of the Merit System for the Scientific Career System CY 2006;

Recognizing the need for scientists to participate in international scientific symposia and conferences to be updated on the latest advances in their field and to be concerned with experts from around the world;

Considering that attendance in international symposia and conferences will give the scientists the opportunity of establishing new collaborations within present or upcoming research projects, exchanging useful ideas, and establishing new academic networks specifically in linking universities with industries thereby advancing the country’s competitiveness;

Considering further that the agencies have limited funds more so for foreign traveling expenses of the scientists’;

HEREBY UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES THE INCREASE IN THE INCENTIVES FOR EACH SCIENTIST TO AT LEAST $2,000 EACH FOR EVERY TWO (2) YEARS WHICH MAY BE USED FOR FOREIGN TRAVEL OF SCIENTISTS WHEN PRESENTING PAPERS IN INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIA ASIDE FROM MEMBERSHIP/SUBSCRIPTION AND PUBLICATION ASSISTANCE.
