(NAR) VOL. 21 NO.4 OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2010

[ POEA ADVISORY NO. 34, S. 2010, December 06, 2010 ]

LENDING OF COMPUTER LAPTOPS BY FILIPINOS IN MACAU

The Philippine Consulate General in Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) has reported a high profile case that implicated Filipino workers in Macau who are allegedly committing a HK$300,000 online credit card scam.

The arrested Filipinos, however, profess their innocence claiming they had lent their computer laptops to friends and acquaintances to allow the latter access to the internet and to contact their families in the Philippines. Apparently, their computer laptops were used in the illegal activity.

Filipinos who wish to work overseas, particularly in Macau are therefore strongly advised to refrain or to take extra precaution when lending their computer laptops to friends and acquaintances to avoid being associated with this kind of illegal activities.

For the information and guidance of all concerned.
