(NAR) VOL. 26 NO. 1/ JANUARY - MARCH 2015

[ PhilHealth Circular No. 028-2014, November 17, 2014 ]

SUSPENSION OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR LASIK (LASER- ASSISTED IN SITU KERATOMILEUSIS) PROCEDURES

Adopted: 17 November 2014
Date Filed: 05 January 2015

Pursuant to PhilHealth Circular No. 7, s-2004, the Corporation has been reimbursing LASIK procedures to rehabilitate post-operative, SURGICALLY INDUCED astigmatism and/or anisometropia.

Numerous consultations with the appropriate specialists in the field of ophthalmology, medical societies and clinicians were done in reviewing the said policy. As such, the Corporation has determined that the compensation of laser refractive procedures done for the aforementioned post-operative complications is inappropriate. Hence, the reimbursement of LASIK (Laser Assisted in situ Keratomileusis) procedures with RVS CODE 65760 is hereby suspended.

This policy shall continue to undergo review based in the latest evidence and monitoring findings.

This Circular shall take effect fifteen (15) calendar days from the date of publication in any newspaper of general circulation and thereafter deposited with the National Administrative Register at the University of the Philippines Law Center.
