[ POEA Advisory No. 27, s. 2014, November 13, 2015 ]

NEW PROCEDURES FOR NON-EUROPEAN UNION (EU) NATIONALS IN CYPRUS

Adopted: 13 November 2015
Date Filed: 05 January 2015

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Cyprus reported that the Cyprus Civil Registry and Migration Department (CRMD) will now be issuing biometric residence/employment permit for Non-EU nationals including OFWs relative to the implementation of EU Single Permit directive.

The new permit will be in the form of an identity card (ID) that will indicate the holder’s biometrics, including a digital face photo, a fingerprint and signature. The name and address of the employer shall also be found at the back of the ID.

The report further stated that while the new ID will replace previous temporary residence permit/ visa known as “Pink Slip”, all valid residence/ employment permits issued under the existing legislation are considered valid until expiry date.

OFWs issued with an entry permit or “Blue Slip” shall be required to register at the CRMD or at the Alien’s and Immigration Units within seven (7) days upon arrival in Cyprus for the processing of their biometric residence/ employment permit.

The public is also advised to visit the CRMD website at www.moi.gov.cy/crmd for more information.
