AN ORDINANCE RENAMING THE DELPAN SPORTS COMPLEX AS THE LEONARDO B. FUGOSO SPORTS COMPLEX

PREAMBLE

WHEREAS, the late Leonardo B. Fugoso served the City of Manila in different capacities for many years with utmost dediction and distinction;

WHEREAS, from 1959 to  1964, he was a member of the now-defunct Municipal Board, representing the erstwhile Second District of the then four districts in the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, in the first post-martial law national elections held in 1987, Fuguso ran for Representative of the 3rd District of Manila and won;

WHEREAS, he would serve two more terms from 1992 to 1998, thus becoming the first lawmaker from the 3rd District to serve three consecutive terms;

WHEREAS, Fuguso was also Scoutmaster I of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines from 1965 to  1975;

WHEREAS, his remarkable projects included street lightings, the upgrading and modernization of roads in the 3rd District and the construction of the Valeriano E. Fugoso Library, named after his late father who was appointed Mayor of Manila in 1946;

WHEREAS, Fugoso, who passed away on 8 January 2012 at age eighty-nine, was a man widely known for his probity and benevolence: NOW, THEREFOR,

Be it ordained by the City Council of Manila, in session assembled, THAT:

SECTION 1. The Delpan Sports Complex, located in the Third District of the City of Manila, is hereby renamed as the "Leonardo B. Fugoso Sports Complex."

SEC. 2. Tha Manila Department of Engineering and Public Works shall cause the replacement of the dimensional lattering installed thereat, with the following sign:


LEONARDO B. FUGOSO SPORTS COMPLEX
(formerly Delpan Sports Complex)


SEC. 3.
Copies of this Ordinance shall be furnished to the Office of the President, the Speaker of the House of Representative, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the Philippines Postal Corporation and the Manila Department of Engineering and Public Works.

SEC. 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.

This Ordinance was finally enacted by the City Council of Manila on August 6, 2015.
