[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 48, September 30, 1991 ]

DEPLOYMENT PERIOD FOR SEAFARERS

Book III, Rule II, Section 4 of the Rules and Regulations Governing Overseas Employment, as Amended, provides:

"Section 4 Workers' Deployment — An agency shall deploy its recruits within the deployment period as indicated below:

a. One hundred twenty (120) calendar days from the date of signing of the employment contract for all landbased workers;

b. Thirty (30) calendar days from the date of processing by the Administration of the employment contracts of seafarers.

Failure of the Agency to deploy a worker within a prescribed period without valid reasons shall be a cause for suspension or cancellation of license or fine. In addition, the agency shall return all documents at no costs to the worker."

This afore-cited provision supersedes the deployment period of Forty-five (45) days from the date of processing of employment contracts for rating by the Administration.

Henceforth, the POEA shall closely monitor strict compliance with said provision.

This order takes effect immediately.

Adopted: 30 Sept. 1991
