(NAR) VOL. II NO. 4 / OCTOBER - DECEMBER 1991

[ POEA (DOLE) MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 62, November 04, 1991 ]

PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION SEMINARS (PDOS)

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has reported an increasing incidence of Filipino workers and dependents being jailed or detained for violation or circumvention of Saudi Laws.

It was observed that many of these Filipino OCWs who are held prisoners failed to attend an honest-to-goodness orientation prior to their departure.

In this connection, all agencies and entities authorized to conduct PDOS are obliged to emphasize on the departing OCWs the need to obey the strict Islamic Code of conduct and discipline against prohibited acts such as illegal drug or liquor trafficking in order to avoid getting into trouble with Saudi police authorities, being jailed and/or repatriated.

For strict compliance.
