AMENDMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NOS. 84AO-003 AND 96-001 REGARDING THE STAGGERED MONTHLY REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND ISSUANCE OF DIFFERENT PLATE NUMBERS TO MOTOR VEHICLES, THE CLASSIFICATION OF WHICH ARE CHANGED, RESPECTIVELY

In connection with the LTO Motor Vehicle License Plates Standardization Program, the following rules and regulations are hereby promulgated for the observance of all concerned:

Section 1. Sec. 2 of Administrative Order No. 84AO-003 is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 2. SYSTEM OF OPERATION. The Monthly Staggered System of Registration shall operate in the following manner:

a)
While the last digit of the plate number bearing three (3) alpha and four (4) numeric symbols still determines the monthly schedule of registration, the second (2nd) to the last digit shall determine the working days within the week when the registration of the vehicle shall be renewed,
b)
Since there are five (5) digits in the case of motorcycle plates, the second to the last digit shall also be used to determine the registration week.

Section 2. Sec. 2 of Administrative Order No. 96-001 is hereby amended to read as follows:

“Section 2. Change Classification –

a)
In case of change classification, the same alpha and numeric symbols of the plate number under the previous classification shall be retained.
   
  EXAMPLE:
   
  A) MAKE/TYPE : NISSAN URVAN
    FILE NUMBER : 1372-534444
    PLATE NUMBER : UAA-101 (black numeric symbols on WHITE background)
    CLASSIFICATION : PRIVATE
       
  B) MAKE/TYPE : NISSAN URVAN
    FILE NUMBER : 1372-534444
    PLATE NUMBER : UAA-101 (black numeric symbols on YELLOW background)
    CLASSIFICATION : FOR-HIRE
       
b)
The same rule shall apply to all cases of change classification from private to for-hire/government and vice-versa except diplomatic wherein a new set of plates shall be issued based on the latest classification.

Section 3. REPEALING CLAUSE. Section 2 (a) and (b) of Administrative Order No. 84AO-003 and Section 2 of Administrative Order No. 96-001 are hereby superseded.

Section 4. EFFECTIVITY. This Administrative Order shall take effect immediately.
