AMENDING MMDA REGULATION NO. 17-001, SERIES OF 2017, ON THE UNIFORM “LIGHT TRUCKS” BAN IN METROPOLITAN MANILA

WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Council issued MMDA Regulation No. 17-001, Series  of  2017,  “Establishing  a  Uniform  ‘Light  Trucks’  Ban  in  Metropolitan Manila”;

WHEREAS, in order to further alleviate traffic congestion along EDSA from Magallanes, Makati City until North Avenue, Quezon City, both northbound and southbound, there is a need to amend said Regulation;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, as it is hereby resolved, that the Metro Manila Council hereby amends MMDA Regulation No. 17-001, Series of 2017, thus:
1.    Paragraph 1 of said Regulation is hereby amended to read as follows:
“1. DEFINITION: As used herein, “light trucks” shall be understood to refer to motor vehicles with a gross capacity weight of 4,500 kilograms or below and/or having six (6) or more tires, the payload area of which are either enclosed or open. x x x.” (Amendment underscored)
2.    Paragraph 2 of the same Regulation is hereby amended to read as follows:

“2.  COVERAGE:  All “light trucks”, whether or not for commercial use, shall be:
a.    Prohibited to ply EDSA from Magallanes, Makati City until North Avenue, Quezon City, both northbound and southbound, from 5:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays. There is no such prohibition on Sundays and holidays; and

b.    Prohibited  along  Shaw  Boulevard  (Mandaluyong City  and  Pasig City) from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays. There is no such prohibition on Sundays and holidays.” (Amendment underscored)
3.    All other provisions of MMDA Regulation No. 17-001, Series of 2017, not otherwise affected by the foregoing amendments shall remain in full force and effect.

4.    This Regulation shall be effective five (5) days from the date of its publication in  two  (2)  newspapers of  general circulation and  submission of  a  copy thereof with the Office of the National Administrative Register, U. P. Law Center.
