AN ACT CONVERTING THE CERVANTES NATIONAL SCHOOL OF ARTS AND TRADES, CREATED UNDER REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOUR, INTO AN AGRO-INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL TO BE KNOWN AS CERVANTES AGRO-INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL.

Be it enacted by the Batasang Pambansa in session assembled:

SECTION 1. The Cervantes National School of Arts and Trades created under Republic Act Numbered Forty-four hundred and twenty-four located in the Municipality of Cervantes, Province of Ilocos Sur, Region I is hereby converted into an agro-industrial school to be known as Cervantes Agro-Industrial School.

SEC. 2. In addition to its present four-year secondary trade curriculum and the revised secondary education curriculum, the Cervantes Agro-Industrial School shall also provide a four-year secondary industrial and agricultural education, and shall develop skills in the field of agriculture and industry, home technology and food trades, practical arts and furniture design and construction, and vocational electives. These shall be done through scientific research and extension that will provide skills necessary and adequate for agricultural and industrial work/employment.

Other related courses may be offered as the demand arises, and as the Ministry of Education and Culture may deem wise and necessary.

SEC. 3. The amount of two hundred thousand pesos for the operation of the school shall be charged to the appropriations authorized by Batas Pambansa Blg. 80, and Batas Pambansa Blg. 131 for the Ministry of Education and Culture intended for new national schools: Provided, That the local government unit concerned shall continue to provide its share in the cost of operating and maintaining said school. Starting Calendar Year 1983 such sum as may be necessary for the operation and maintenance of the school shall be provided in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
