AN ACT CHANGING THE NAME OF THE MARILAO NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARILAO, PROVINCE OF BULACAN, TO ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNARDINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL

Whereas, the late Assemblywoman Felicita Gonzales Bernardino was one of the country's most outstanding professionals, she having earned twelve (12) certificates and diplomas, the highest of which is that of Doctor of Education, the highest that can be attained in the noblest of professions: teaching;

Whereas, the Honorable Felicita G. Bernardino was an outstanding civic leader, she having been an active officer/member of some eight (8) organizations, among which are the Rural Improvement Club of the Philippines, the Civic Assembly of Women of the Philippines, the Philippine Mental Health Association and the National League of Women Voters;

Whereas, the Honorable Felicita G. Bernardino was one of the country's most outstanding public servants, having rose from the ranks in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports: from Classroom Teacher to Head Teacher, to Assistant Principal, to Principal, to Supervisor, to Assistant Superintendent, to Superintendent, to Assistant Regional Director, to Regional Director, and to Deputy Minister, and her career culminated in the august legislative body of the Filipino people—the Batasang Pambansa;

Whereas, in recognition of her outstanding public service she was conferred some two (2) dozen citations and awards, some of which are: Republic Day Award for Education, Most Outstanding- Career Executive Service Officer, Most Outstanding Superintendent on Green Revolution Program, and Presidential Award on Community Leadership;

Whereas, most outstanding that she was in the professions, in civic activities and in public office, her greatest success lay on her being a devoted wife to her late husband, Teodorico S. Bernardino, former Vice-Mayor of Marilao, Bulacan, and as a successful mother who guided her four (4) children, namely, Fe Marie Dora, Teodore, Eleanore and Michael, to achieve success through honesty, hard work and a sense of excellence;

Whereas, in view of the foregoing premises, it is fitting and proper that the Filipino people pay tribute to an exemplary Filipina Lady: intelligent, educated, hardworking, civic-minded, dedicated public servant, virtuous, devoted wife and selfless mother—the Honorable Felicita Gonzales Bernardino: Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the Batasang Pambansa in session assembled:

SECTION 1. The name of the Marilao National Trade School in the Municipality of Marilao, Province of Bulacan, is changed to Assemblywoman Felicita G. Bernardino Memorial Trade School.

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
