[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1983, August 01, 1985 ]

GRANTING OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO CHUA KIM LAN AND ROSITA CHUA

WHEREAS, Chua Kim Lan, widow of the late Roman V. Chua Yan, and her daughter, Rosita Chua, have imbedded the culture, customs, traditions and ideals of the Filipino people, and have proven themselves worthy of the rights, privileges and prerogatives of citizens of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, they decided to make the Philippines their permanent home to which they shall forever pledge and hold their love, loyalty, obedience and allegiance;

WHEREAS, they both possess all the qualifications and none disqualifications for the acquisition of Philippines citizenship;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested upon me by the Constitution, do hereby decree the grant of Philippine citizenship upon Chua Kim Lan and Rosita Chua, with all the rights, privileges and prerogatives appurtenant thereto; Provided, That said Chua Kim Lan and Rosita Chua shall take their oath of allegiance to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the Philippines before the proper administering officer.

This Decree shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 1st day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-five.
