[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 158, March 17, 1973 ]

EXTENDING UNTIL APRIL 15, 1973 THE DEADLINE FOR THE FILING OF APPLICATION FOR AMNESTY UNDER PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 95, DATED JANUARY 11, 1973 AND PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 124, DATED FEBRUARY 2, 1973

WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 95, dated January 11, 1973 and Presidential Decree No. 124, dated February 2, 1973 were promulgated by me as a measure of restoring peace and order in the country, and unifying the Filipino Nation;

WHEREAS, the period within which to file applications for amnesty in accordance with the said Presidential Decrees expired on February 28, 1973 and March 15, 1973, respectively;

WHEREAS, in view of the limited period within which to disseminate fully the details of the said Presidential Decrees, especially in the remote areas of the country, many of those who could have availed themselves of the benefits of amnesty therein proclaimed were unable to file their applications on time; and

WHEREAS, reports from field units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and feelers from leaders of misguided elements reveal that many have signified their intention to surrender to the military authorities and avail of the amnesty in accordance with said Presidential Decrees;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, pursuant to Proclamations No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972 and No. 1104, dated January 17, 1973, and in my capacity as Commander-in-Chief of all the Armed Forces of the Philippines, do hereby order and decree that the deadline for the filing of application for amnesty under Presidential Decree No. 95, dated January 11, 1973 and Presidential Decree No. 124, dated February 2, 1973 is extended until April I5, 1973.

I do further order and decree that the rules and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Justice and the Secretary of National Defense, as well as ail other administrative orders, rules and regulations in the implementation of the aforesaid Presidential Decrees, shall continue to be in full force and effect except as they may be inconsistent herewith and therefore amended and modified accordingly.
