[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 546, August 30, 1974 ]

EXTENDING THE EFFECTS OF THE PROVISIONS OF ACT NO. 4166, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LIMITATION, REGULATION AND ALLOCATION OF SUGAR PRODUCED IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, AND FOR THE PROCESSING AND MARKETING THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES," AS AMENDED.

WHEREAS, Act No. 4166, as amended, otherwise known as the Sugar Limitation Law, shall expire by the end of the 1973-1974 crop year (August 31, 1974), pursuant to Republic Act No. 279; and

WHEREAS, continuance of the effectivity of the said Act, as amended, is in the national interest;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby decree and order:

SECTION 1. Act No. 4166, entitled "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LIMITATION, REGULATION AND ALLOCATION OF SUGAR PRODUCED IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, AND FOR THE PROCESSING AND MARKETING THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES," as amended, shall continue in force for another five crop years, commencing with the 1974-1975 crop year, unless the President of the Philippines determines that the state of national emergency declared in said Act has temporarily or definitely ceased, in which case he shall so declare by proclamation, whereupon the effects of said Act, as amended, shall thereby either be suspended temporarily or cease definitely, in part or in whole.

SEC. 2. This Decree shall take effect immediately.
