[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1008, September 22, 1976 ]

FURTHER AMENDING SECTION 5 (a) OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED SEVENTEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-NINE, AS AMENDED, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE REPARATIONS LAW

By virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby order and decree:

SECTION 1. Section 5(a) of Republic Act No. 1789, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 5. The implementing machinery. — (a) For the purpose of implementing the provisions of this Act, the Reparations Agreement, and the exchange of notes on reparations loans, there is hereby created the Reparations Commission, hereinafter referred to as the Commission, which shall be headed by a Commissioner who shall be assisted by a Deputy Commissioner, both of whom shall be appointed by the President and shall serve until removed for cause or by reason of death or disability. . . ."

SECTION 2. The incumbent Chairman and member of the Commission shall act as Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, respectively, until their successors shall have been appointed pursuant to this Decree.

SECTION 3. This Decree shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 22nd day of September, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Six.
