[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 629-A, January 21, 1975 ]

EXTENDING THE PERIOD OF REGISTRATION OF BARANGAY MEMBERS TO JANUARY 27, 1975

WHEREAS, Commission on Elections has informed that dues to certain circumstances such as inclement weather and preoccupation of the people in harvesting their crops, the registration of barangay members in certain areas may not be completed within the period provided for under Presidential Decree No. 629, dated January 4, 1975; and

WHEREAS, it is vital to the success of the National Referendum on February 27, 1975, that the citizens qualified to register be given ample opportunity to do so, to enable them to vote and thus assure the widest participation of all concerned.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree as follows:

SECTION 1. Extension of the Period of Registration. - The period of registration of barangay members is hereby extended to January 27, 1975.

SEC. 2. Effectivity. - This decree shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 21st day of January, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-five.
