[ ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 384, March 11, 1998 ]

AMENDING ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 180, SERIES OF 1995, INCREASING THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF THE TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (TESDA) UNDER REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7796



WHEREAS, Section 7 of Republic Act No. 7796, otherwise known as the TESDA Act of 1994, provides that the TESDA Board shall be composed of the Secretary of Labor and Employment as chairperson, Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports and Secretary of Trade and Industry as co-chairpersons, and the following as members: Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary of the Interior and Local Government, two (2) representatives from employer’s group, three (3) representatives from labor group and two (2) representatives from national associations of private technical-vocational education and training institutions;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the same Section of RA 7796, the President is authorized to revise the membership of the TESDA Board whenever the President deems it necessary for the effective performance of the Board’s functions through an administrative order.

WHEREAS, Administrative Order No. 180, Series of 1995 increased the number of the TESDA Board members to include the DOST Secretary as an ex-officio member, two (2) additional representatives from the employer/industry organization and three (3) additional members from the labor sector; and

WHEREAS, the inclusion of the CHED Chairman as member of the TESDA Board shall redound to a more effective and rationalized technical education and skills development policies, strategies and program.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. The composition of the TESDA Board is hereby amended to include the Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education as ex-officio member.

SEC. 2. This Administrative Order shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its publication in two (2) newspapers of general circulation.

SEC. 3. Repealing Clause. All laws, order, issuances, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with this Administrative Order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 11th day of March, in the year of Our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Eight.
