[ PROCLAMATION NO. 1665, November 10, 2008 ]

RENAMING BUSUANGA AIRPORT TO FRANCISCO B. REYES AIRPORT LOCATED AT THE MUNICIPALITY OF CORON, PROVINCE OF PALAWAN



WHEREAS, the physical location of Busuanga Airport is within the territory of the Municipality of Coron, Province of Palawan;

WHEREAS, the total land area of Busuanga Airport was donated by the late Francisco B. Reyes, former Mayor of the Municipality of Coron from 1936 to 1939;

WHEREAS, there is no gainsaying that Busuanga Airport located within the territory of the Municipality of Coron played an important role towards business and tourism development of Northern Palawan;

WHEREAS, the residents and the local leaders of the Municipality of Coron and the Province of Palawan recognized that the aforementioned development was due to the benevolent act of former Mayor Francisco B. Reyes;

WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Bayan of Coron and Panlalawigan of Palawan, in honor of former Mayor Francisco B. Reyes, adopted Resolution Nos. 26-A and 4449-00 dated August 7, 2000 and January 27, 2001, respectively, requesting to rename Busuanga Airport to Francisco B. Reyes Airport;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby rename Busuanga Airport to Francisco B. Reyes Airport located in the Municipality of Coron, Province of Palawan and authorize the change/placing of the appropriate markers and signages of the newly named airport terminal.

All orders, rules, regulations and issuances, or parts thereof, which are inconsistent with this Proclamation are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
