[ PROCLAMATION NO. 622, April 29, 2004 ]

DECLARING THE YEAR 2005 AS THE CENTENNIAL YEAR OF THE FEMINIST MOVEMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES



WHEREAS, since even before the colonial years, the Filipina has held a position of honor in the family and outside the home;

WHEREAS, Philippine history recorded the achievements of the Filipina in the various field of agriculture, health, labor, business, social work, politics, environment, etc.;

WHEREAS, the first formal organization movement was organized in 1905 by Conception Felix and was called Asociacion de Feminista Filipina.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL –ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the power vested in me by law, do hereby declare the year 2005 as Centennial Year of the Feminist Movement of the Philippines under the auspices of the National Commission on the role of the Filipino Women and the National Federation of Women’s Clubs of the Philippines for the non-government organization.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 29th day of April, in the year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Four.
