[ PROCLAMATION NO. 515, June 11, 1958 ]
DECLARING THE FOURTEENTH DAY OF JUNE OF EVERY YEAR AS A BESSANG PASS DAY
WHEREAS, the 14th day of June, which marks the anniversary of the Fall of Bessang Pass, has become a shining symbol of the courage and heroism of the Filipino soldiery and the loyalty and patriotism of our civilian population during World War II;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the fourteenth day of June of every year as Bessang Pass Day. I call upon public officials and citizens of the Philippines to celebrate the day by holding appropriate programs in honor of our fighting men who fought in the Battle of Bessang Pass.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 11th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-eight, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the twelfth.
