[ PROCLAMATION NO. 44, August 20, 1962 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 15 TO DECEMBER 31, 1962, AS THE PERIOD FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES IN PLACES OUTSIDE OF GREATER MANILA.



WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines has con­tinuously served the nation through its program of character building and citizenship training for young girls;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines has been a potent force against juvenile delinquency through its camping program and other wholesome activities;

WHEREAS, the said organization hopes to extend the benefits of Girl Scouting to an estimated 1,900,000 girls of scouting age.

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines desires to develop its program for out-of-school and handicapped girls and to offer them a vigorous and extensive leadership training program to help them take their own place in the community;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Movement, in its successful hostessing of world gatherings and in its active participation in international events, has contributed greatly in bringing prestige to the country;

WHEREAS, the national Girl Scout organization and its provincial and city councils are in need of funds to be able to carry on its program and implement new projects; to maintain its high standard of work; to meet its obligations locally and internationally; and to enable it as a movement to participate actively as a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a national fund drive during the period from November 15 to December 31, 1962, in the provinces and territories outside of Greater Manila. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines outside of Greater Manila to assist wholeheartedly in this campaign and to give their utmost support so that the Girl Scouts of the Philippines may be assured of adequate funds with which to carry on its work. I authorize all treasurers and en­gineers of provincial, city, and municipal governments, as well as school officials and teachers to accept, for the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, fund-raising responsibilities, and urge them to give actual support and leadership in their respective communities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 20th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-two.
