[ PROCLAMATION NO. 937, October 25, 2005 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2005, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEZON



WHEREAS, Friday, November 4, 2005, marks the 164th death anniversary of Apolinario de la Cruz, better known as "Hermano Pule", the great man from Lukban, Quezon;

WHEREAS, Hermano Pule rendered invaluable service in our country by founding the brotherhood popularly known as Confradia De Jesus;

WHEREAS, the brotherhood or religious organization that Hermano Pule founded spread like wildfire in the Province of Tayabas (now Quezon, Laguna and some towns in Batangas) which historical research has proved as one way of showing nationalism during that time;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to honor and emulate the heroism and patriotism of Apolinario (Hermano Pule) de la Cruz and give the people of Quezon Province full opportunity to commemorate the vent with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Friday, November 4, 2005, as special (non-working) day in the Province of Quezon.

IN WITHNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 25th day of October, in the year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Five.
