TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF DEPLOYMENT TO THE COMMONWEALTH OF NORTHERN MARIANAS ISLAND (CNMI)



In view of incidences of labor-related complaints and other forms of abuses committed by employers against Filipino workers in the CNMI which remain unresolved as confirmed by the recent DOLE Fact-Finding Mission, deployment of the following category or workers to the said territory is hereby temporarily suspended:

1. household workers;
2. farmers;
3. waitresses/receptionists and other related workers in bars and nightclubs; and
4. such other vulnerable skills as may be determined by the Department.

Covered by the temporary deployment suspension are all new hires.

Vacationing workers and those who are on emergency leave or on mid-term vacation are not covered by the temporary suspension.

The suspension shall stay until such time that all pending cases of workers belonging to the abovementioned skills categories are settled and/or appropriate protective and welfare mechanisms are put in place.

This Order takes effect immediately.
