QUARANTINE REGULATIONS ADOPTING THE MARITIME DECLARATION OF HEALTH IN LIEU OF THE BILLS OF HEALTH



Pursuant to the provisions of Articles 95 and 96 of Part VI of the International Sanitary Regulations adopted October 1 1952 by the World Health Organization of which this Bureau is a member this Office hereby issues the following quarantine regulations regarding Bills of Health and Maritime Declaration of Health for the information and guidance of all concerned:

1.       Bills of Health with or without consular visa, or any certificate, however, designated, concerning health conditions of a port or an airport, shall not be required from any ship or aircraft.

2.       The master of a ship, before arrival at its first port of call in a territory shall ascertain the state of health on board, and he shall, on arrival, complete and deliver to the health authority for that port a Maritime Declaration of Health, which shall be countersigned by the ship's surgeon if one is carried abroad.

3.       The master, and ship's surgeon, if one is carried aboard, shall supply any further information required by the health authority as to health conditions on board during the voyage.

4.       A Maritime Declaration of Health shall conform with the model herein attached.
