ENROLLMENT OF ALIEN STUDENTS IN PHILIPPINE PUBLIC SCHOOLS




Commonwealth Act No. 613, Section 9(f) provides that an alien may seek temporary admission; for purposes of study in a course of study higher than high school at a university, seminary, academy, college or school approved for such alien student by the Commissioner of Immigration. Such university, seminary, academy, college or school shall, therefore, comply with BI accreditation requirements, provided however, that they shall be exempt from the payment of BI accreditation fees.

On the other hand, Philippine public schools accepting alien students for elementary and high school education are exempt from. BI accreditation fees and BI accreditation requirements.

However, the Commissioner of Immigration shall first qualify the categories of aliens who may be accepted for enrollment in Philippine public schools. For this purpose, the Philippine public schools concerned shall have within 30 days from the date of the issuance of this order to provide the Commissioner of Immigration with the categories of aliens seeking enrollment therein.

This memorandum order shall take effect immediately.
