PENALTIES FOR NON-PRINTING OF CLASSIFICATION OR PUBLICATION OF INCORRECT MTRCB CLASSIFICATION IN NEWSPAPER AND OTHER PRINT MEDIA MATERIALS



In recent weeks, the Board has observed and taken note of instances where the MTRCB classification given to a film is not published in newspaper and other print media materials, as required, and in spite of the Board’s previous issuances and reminders (Memorandum Circulars No. 97-11, 98-05, 98-13, and 99-05)

In this regard, the Board reiterates the requirement for the INCLUSION OF THE PRESCRIBED MTRCB CLASSIFICATION IN ALL PRINT ADVERTISEMENTS. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the following penalties, as provided for in Memorandum Circular No. 98-17 (15 December 1998):

“7. Non-printing of Classification/ Publication of Incorrect in Classification in Newspaper Advertising Materials”

“FOR OWNER OF PRINT: Six (6) months suspension/ prohibition from applying for PTE”

“FOR OWNER OF PRINT One (1) year suspension/prohibition from applying for PTE

FOR OWNER OF PRINT: Permanent prohibition from  applying for PTE

The Board serves notice that it will not hesitate to impose the above penalties for any further violation committed by film producers of this requirement.
