(NAR) VOL.8 NO. 1 / JANUARY-MARCH 1997

[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 03, S. 1997, January 24, 1997 ]

REPATRIATED OFW'S FROM TAIWAN DUE TO ILLNESS

Pursuant to Rule I, Book VIII, of the POEA Rules and Regulations, and further to POEA Memorandum Circular No. 13, Series of 1992, you are hereby enjoined to report to the administration cases of repatriation of workers you have deployed to Taiwan due to illness.

The directive is being issued in the light of recent reports on the rise in the number of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Taiwan afflicted with the "Steven-Johnson Syndrome" which until recently has caused the death of four OFWs. The reports will aid in monitoring the medical cases and in the adoption of measures designed to safeguard the health of OFWs leaving for Taiwan.

For compliance.
