(NAR) VOL. 13 NOS. 1-2 / JANUARY-MARCH 2002

[ LTO MEMORANDUM, MARCH 6, 2002, March 06, 2002 ]

REGISTRATION OF IMPORTED MOTOR VEHICLES AUCTIONED AT SUBIC, MALINTA & VALENZUELA

Complaints has been reaching this Office that some LTO district offices are accepting the registration of imported motor vehicles proliferating and being auctioned at Subic, Malinta and Valenzuela without the required supporting documents. Although this Office has no jurisdiction on the manner of acquisition of these imported motor vehicles auctioned by various importers who are not accredited by LTO, it is the responsibility of LTO to look into this problem as it affects the public and the duly accredited manufacturers, assemblers, importers and dealers.

In view hereof, it is directed that the initial registration of all imported motor vehicles auctioned at Subic, Malinta and Valenzuela should be held in abeyance until this Office has coordinated with other government agencies involved in the importation of the same for the necessary guidelines. Renewal registration of the above-mentioned subject motor vehicles can only be effected after a thorough inspection at LTO North Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS).

For strict compliance.
