ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW TARIFF AND CUSTOMS CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES: FEBRUARY 1996 EDITION



Notice is hereby given that the Bureau of Customs will adopt effective 15 May 1996 the February 1996 edition of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP) which incorporates all amendments up to E.O. 288 and adopts the 1996 Harmonized System (HS) Nomenclature.

Everyone is encouraged to obtain the said February 1996 edition of the TCCP from the Tariff Commission which shall be the official edition of the Bureau beginning 15 May.

For the information of those who do not have the said latest edition of the TCCP, the Bureau of Customs made a comparative analysis of the 1992 and 1996 Harmonized Systems, copies of which are attached as follows:

    Annex 1* The deleted HS Codes

    Annex 2* The additional HS Codes

    Annex 3* The list of Dutiable Tariff lines for which the description has changed

(Note that for Annexes 2 and 3, the description therein is limited to 88 characters. i.e. when actual description in the 1996 HS Code and February TCCP goes beyond 88 characters, the excess character is represented in the Annexes by the symbol [. . .]).
