[ DA MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 11, s. 2003, March 14, 2003 ]

LIFTING THE TEMPORARY BAN ON THE IMPORTATION OF FEEDS, MEAT, MEAT PRODUCTS AND BY-PRODUCTS, MILK, MILK PRODUCTS, EGGS AND PROCESSED FOODS CONTAINING THE SAME FROM GERMANY AND THE NETHERLANDS



WHEREAS, the governments of Germany and The Netherlands have instituted measures to contain the contamination of the abovementioned commodities with dioxin;

WHEREAS, the government of Germany has conducted risk assessment and found the dioxin level in the affected commodities are below the permitted level; 

WHEREAS, the government of The Netherlands has already blocked the farms identified to have received the feed ingredients contaminated with dioxin imported from Germany; 

WHEREAS, the Philippine government is confident on the measures undertaken by the Netherlands and Germany to ensure that no contaminated products were exported; 

WHEREAS, the Philippines imports meat and meat products and powdered milk from Germany and The Netherlands; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, LUIS P. LORENZO, JR., Secretary of Agriculture, by the powers vested in me by law, do hereby revoke DA Memorandum Order No. 9, series of 2003, otherwise, known as "Temporary Banning on the Importation of Feeds, Meat, Meat Products and By-products, Milk, Milk Products, Eggs and Processed Food containing the same from Germany and the Netherlands." All products that are being held at the port due to the implementation of DA MO 9, series of 2003 may be released subject to the existing veterinary quarantine rules and regulations. 

This ORDER shall take effect immediately.
