REITERATION OF FLAG STATE ADMINISTRATION ADVISORY NO. 027, SERIES OF 2002 ON THE ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF OUR SHIPS, THEIR PASSENGERS AND CARGOES



In response to the directive issued today by Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to ensure the safety and security of our passengers and/or cargo ships and the people and goods that they carry, and in order to prevent extremist forces from taking advantage of the present crisis, Flag State Administration Advisory No. 027, series of 2002 dated 22 October 2002, is hereby reiterated. All shipping companies/ship owners/operators are hereby directed to more strictly institute the following measures:
  1. Exercise 24-hour monitoring/vigilance of all entry points and the perimeter of their premises, passenger terminals and vessels.
     
  2. Institute 100% checking of persons and/or passengers and their baggage entering the premises. Entry should be denied to anyone who refuses to submit to a security check prior to entry into passenger terminals and embarkation to a ship.
     
  3. Immediately inform any of the following government agencies of any suspicious person(s)/activity(ies)/ movement(s) in your premises/ships and/or their immediate vicinity.

  4. Provide a bulletin board for each of your vessels posting therein all safety-related certificates.

  5. Post notices at strategic locations regarding the strict enforcement of security measures.
     
  6. Implement other safety precautionary measures as may be deemed necessary.
     
  7. Submit to the MARINA within five (5) days from date hereof measures undertaken by your company in compliance with this Advisory.
