[ MARINA ADVISORY NO. 2007-002, February 15, 2007 ]

ALLOWING CERTAIN PERSONNEL TO COMMAND FISHING VESSELS IRRESPECTIVE OF THE LIMITATION IN THEIR LICENSE

Cognizant of the difficulty faced by fishing vessel owners/operators to employ competent and properly certificated marine deck/engine officers and pending issuance of MARINA Circular providing specific regulations for these personnel, the MARINA hereby allows the following officers, without regard to the limitations indicated in their licenses, to command fishing vessels:

  1. MARINA duly licensed Boat Captains are authorized to command fishing vessels with tonnage of up to 150 GT.

  2. MARINA duly licensed Marine Diesel Mechanics are authorized to operate and maintain diesel engines of a fishing boat/ship with engine propulsion of any KW.

The pertinent MARINA Circular incorporating the aforementioned qualifications of these fishing personnel shall forthwith be issued.

For information and guidance.
