WHEREAS, Sec. 18 of R.A. No. 8050, otherwise known as the “Revised Optometry Law of 1995” vests in the Board of Optometry the power to prescribe the scope and prepare the contents of the licensure examination for optometrists;
WHEREAS, the Board prescribed in Sec. 26, Rule V of Res. No. 03, Series of 1997, otherwise known as the “Rules and Regulations Governing the Examination and Registration of Optometrists and the Regulation of the Practice of Optometry” the following theoretical subjects with their corresponding percentage weights in licensure examinations for Optometrists:

| 2. Binocular Vision & Perception | — 10% |
| 3. Contact Lens Practice | — 10% |
| 4. Low Vision | — 10% |
| 5. Ocular Diseases | — 10% |
| 6. Primary Care and Refraction | — 10% |
| 7. Public Health & Emergencies | — 10% |
| 8. Jurisprudence, Ethics and Practice Management | — 10% |
| 9. Ophthalmic Dispensing | — 10% |
| 10.Ocular Pharmacology | — 10% |
WHEREAS, the adoption of a syllabus in each subject for licensure examination in Optometry is required by Memorandum Circular No. 8, Series of 1992; Memorandum Circular No. 92-03, Series of 1993 and Memorandum Circular No. 93-04, Series of 1993 of the Professional Regulation Commission;
WHEREAS, the preparation of the syllabi was done in consultation with various schools, colleges and universities offering the course of optometry, and the Samahan ng mga Optometrist sa Pilipinas, Inc. (SOP) and in accordance with the curriculum of the Optometry course approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED);
WHEREAS, the test questions to be formulated for the optometrist licensure examinations shall be based on the various concepts, principles and applications included in the syllabi.
NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the powers vested in it by Sec. 12 (1) and Sec. 35 of R.A. No. 8050, the Board hereby RESOLVED, AS IT NOW RESOLVES, to adopt the Syllabi of the Subjects for Examination in the licensure examination for Optometrists, appearing in Annex “A”
* as integral part of this Resolution for the observance of the Board in the preparation of test questions in licensure examinations.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that this Resolution approved by the Professional Regulation Commission shall be effective after thirty (30) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation.
RESOLVED, FINALLY, that all recognized schools, colleges and universities offering the course of optometry be given copies of this Resolution for dissemination to their students and graduates.
