DECLARATION OF ADDITIONAL VESSEL LAY-UP SITES



This notice to the public is hereby issued, in conjunction with MARINA Circular No. 2009-07 dated 27 March 2009, and pursuant to Letter of Instructions No. 341 dated 28 November 1975 directing the MARINA “…..to act as the agency to oversee and coordinate the various activities/programs of the government offices hereunder specified, relative to the establishment in the Philippines of lay-up centers, in such areas as may be suitable for the purpose and in such number as may be deemed necessary….”

Following evaluation and assessment conducted by this Authority on application-requests filed, and with due consideration to the continued demand for lay-up sites as well as the current and project number of ships laid/to be laid up at Malalag Bay, the following areas are hereby declared as additional vessel lay-up sites:

1. Harbor of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental along Tañon Strait; and
2. Anchorage area of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries, Phil. Inc. in Balamban, Cebu

Attendant to the herein declaration of the above lay-up sites, the entity who shall be able to submit to this Authority a survey map indicating the longitudinal and latitudinal positions where ships are to be laid up in the foregoing declared areas, and subject to compliance with the requirements provided in MARINA Circular No. 2009-07, shall be accredited as the vessel lay-up agent in each of the above-declared lay-up sites.
