TERMINATION OF PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT FOR BASIC SAFETY AT THE NATIONAL ASSESSMENT CENTER (NAC)



Effective 19 October 2009, the National Assessment Center shall cease from accepting portfolio assessment of seafarers except those seafarers whose sea service was acquired on board domestic vessels of at least 500GRT/750KW, subject to the following:

  1. He must be a holder of certificate of basic safety training issued by the MTC-accredited maritime training centers; and

  2. He must present both the original and photocopy of Seafarer’s identification Record Book (SIRB) for verification.

In this connection, all manning agencies are hereby advised to ensure that all seafar- ers being deployed on-board foreign flag vessels, are holders of appropriate Certificate of Proficiency in accordance with the provisions of the Convention and as established by the Administration.
