MSC/CIRC. 1136 (GUIDANCE ON SAFETY DURING ABANDON SHIP DRILLS USING LIFEBOATS)



This refers to the IMO MSC/Circ. 1136 dated 15 December 2004 regarding GUIDANCE ON SAFETY DURING ABANDON SHIP DRILLS  USING LIFEBOATS, which was issued by the Maritime Safety Committee due to the high number of accidents with lifeboats that have been occurring over recent years. The Guidance on safety during abandon ship drills, as set out in the Annex to the Circular, is of great assistance to member Governments.

It is suggested that the guidance provided under the abovementioned circular shall be considered during the conduct of training and assessment in the operation of lifeboats.
