GUIDELINES IN THE REGISTRATION AND IMPORTATION OF MEAT AND BONE MEAL FROM AUSTRALIA



In view of the approval of DA-Memorandum Order No. 05, series of 2008, dated 04 April 2008, which provides for the lifting of the temporary ban on the importation of Meat and Bone Meal (MBM) from Australia, the following guidelines are hereby adopted for the ^formation and guidance of all concerned.

BAI registration of the MBM shall be required prior to the importation of the said Product. The following documents shall be submitted as requirements for registration:

1. Official Establishment (Certificate of Animal By-products Overseas Listing) Number issued by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS), and full address of the establishments;

2. Copy of Certificate of Animal By-products Overseas Listing issued by AQIS,

3. Processing Method - A copy of the most recent process validation i.e. Closthdium perfringens test, Salmonella test;

4. An AQIS Veterinary Health Certificate;

5. Certificate of Analysis showing the following:

5.1 Complete proximate analysis, and

6. Facsimile or draft or photograph of the proposed label or tag.

The AQIS Veterinary Health Certificate shall accompany every consignment and shall include the following:

- A statement that the product is freely available for sale in Australia;

- A statement that the product is of Australia origin;

- A statement that the meal are only for poultry/swine/aquaculture feeds and pet food purposes in the Philippines; and

- A list of diseases relevant to the product that do not occur in Australia;

Likewise, Veterinary Quarantine Clearance (VQC) to import shall be required for every shipment of MBM to be imported from the said country. The following documents shall accompany the application form for VQC:

1. Product registration;
2. Proforma Invoice;
3. List of clients to be supplied with the MBM; and
4. Inventory of the MBM (for those who have already made previous importations).

This Order shall take effect immediately and shall remain enforced until revoked.
