AMENDMENT OF SELLING PRICE OF SELECTED VEGETABLE SEEDS AND PLANT MATERIALS CONTAINED IN ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 5 SERIES OF 1999



For the guidance of all concerned, the selling prices of selected vegetables seeds and plant materials of root crops, medicinal, beverage, ornamental, fruit, and plantation crops produced by the stations, seed farms and centers of the Department of Agriculture is hereby amended;

The Department of Agriculture field offices and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) shall be guided by the following policies/guidelines.

1. All seeds produced by the DA stations and Seed Farms should undergo seed quality tests by the Seed Testing Laboratory of the National Seed Quality Control Services; germination, and physical purity should not be less than 80% and 95%, respectively, moisture content should not be more than 12% , prior to sale or distribution.

2. All seeds still on stock at any DA field units shall be retested after two months for germination and moisture content and only seeds within the quality standards are eligible for sale/distribution.

3. Seed and plant materials shall be sold in cash and carry basis. , ;

4. Seeds that faff below the minimum quality standard and overgrown plant materials shall be disposed or shall be condemned according to COA regulations.

5. Budstick for asexual propagation shall be sourced from the NSlC-registered and regularly indexed parent trees.

6. Standard bagging size of plastic bag is 7 x 11 inches for fruits, beverages and plantation crops except for rubber which is 7 x 14 inches and 5x7 inches for medicinal plants and other crops.

This order supersedes all other Administrative Order inconsistent herewith and takes effect immediately.
