USE OF PNDF VOLUME 1, 7TH EDITION AS NEW REFERENCE FOR PHILHEALTH DRUG REIMBURSEMENT

The Department of Health (DOH) has recently completed the revision of the Philippine National Drug Formulary (PNDF) Volume 1, 7th Edition 2007 and 2008 as published in their website http://www.doh.gov.ph/node/1740/.

Pursuant to Section 37 (c-1) of Republic Act 7875 as amended by RA 9241 which stipulates that “..Drugs for which payments will be made shall be those included in the Philippine National Drug Formulary, unless explicit exception is granted by the Corporation.” The aforementioned PNDF edition shall therefore be used as the main reference for PhilHealth drug reimbursement. As such, drugs and preparations not included in the said list shall not be reimbursed by the Corporation.

This Circular shall be applicable for all claims with admission dates starting October 1, 2009.

All other issuances inconsistent with this circular are hereby repealed, modified and amended accordingly.
