[ MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. ADD-02-008, FEBRUARY 6, 2002, February 06, 2002 ]

ACCREDITATION OF ALIEN TOUR GUIDES IN THE PHILIPPINES




Any person engaging the services of an alien tour guide in the Philippines shall first obtain BI accreditation by submitting the following requirements:

1. Verified letter-request for BI accreditation;

2. Application for an alien special work permit (SWP) valid for six (6) months:

3. Certified true copy of the alien SWP;

4. Proof of a Philippine understudy program;

5. Curriculum Vitae of the Philippine understudy;

6. Proof of payment of a cash bond under Commonwealth Act (C.A.) No. 613, Section 40(a)(1) in the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND (P20,000.00) PESOS;

The BI shall revoke the accreditation issued under this memorandum order, upon a finding that the alien concerned.

1. Has been excluded under C.A. No. 613, Section 29;

2. Has been deported or is being investigated under C.A. No. 613. Sections 37, 45 and 46;

3. Is being investigated and/or charged for a crime or an offense;

4. Engages in any form of unfair competition with a local community, industry or business;

5. Has been repatriated under C.A. No. 613, Section 43;

6. Has an expired visa;

7. Is in the BI Watch and Alert Lists; or

8. Poses a threat to national security, public health or public safety

A SWP issued for this purpose shall not exceed the period of one (1) year.

Any person who employs an alien tour guide without complying with the provisions of this memorandum order shall be subject to the penal provisions of C.A. No. 613, Section 46.

This memorandum order shall take effect immediately.
