PASSPORT EXTENSION OFFICES



In line with the government's policy to effect efficient delivery of basic services and bringing it closer to the people and in pursuance of the efforts of the Department to upgrade and modernize the Philippine Passporting System, the Passport Project Implementing Team (PPIT) and the Office of Consular Services (OCS) are hereby granted authority to create and open immediately Passport Extension Offices in Iloilo City and Legazpi City to service Region VI and Regions V and VIII, respectively.

Under this Order, these Passport Extension Offices are hereby authorized to receive, verify, and process passport applications; receive payment for the applications filed; issue and release passports to eligible Filipino citizens; render public assistance services relating to passporting and other consular related matters; and conduct information gathering and dissemination, relating to the activities of the Department vis-a-vis foreign policy issues and government thrusts.

In order to achieve the objectives of effecting efficient delivery of services to the people and enhancing the integrity of the Philippine passport, the PPIT and the OCS shall, likewise, jointly manage and oversee the operations of all Passport Extension Offices.  All Passport Extension Offices must be strengthened and their operations standardized in accordance with the overall general policies of the Philippine Passporting System.

All expenses to be incurred under this Order shall be charged, appropriately, against the Department’s funds and the Passport Trust Fund subject to existing accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

Further, the Director General, OCS or Chairman, PPIT are hereby authorized to sign Travel Authority/Travel Order(s) and other related documents in compliance of this Order for and in my behalf.

This Order takes effect immediately.
