VEHICLES FOR HIRE



Corollary to the standard classification for all public land-based transport conveyances provided under DOTC Dept. Order No. 97-1097, Item No. 6, thereof, applications for franchises to operate “VEHICLES FOR HIRE” may propose the use of the following motor vehicle types:
1.  Sedan;
2.  Asian Utility Vehicles;
3.  Pick-up
4.  Van; and
5.  Station Wagon or Coach,
with no fixed route. The fare for this type of service shall be on a contract basis per vehicle as may be approved by this Board.

Operators with subsisting Certificates of Public Convenience (CPCs), with the use of any or all of the above vehicle types, originally denominated as “Garage, Rent-A Car, Limousine”, etc., may continue operating the unit/s until the expiry date/s of the CPCs. Thereafter, no application/petition for extension of validity of the expiring/expired CPC shall be accepted. However, operators may opt to file applications for conversion of their units into “VEHICLES FOR HIRE” anytime during the subsistence of their respective Certificates of Public Convenience and after payment of the filing fees of P 430.00 for the first 5 (units) and P 35.00 for each unit in excess of five.

All issuances or parts thereof, which are inconsistent herewith are hereby modified accordingly or superseded/revoked.

This Memorandum Circular shall take effect fifteen (15) days after the filing of three (3) copies hereof with the UP Law Center in accordance with Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11, dated October 09, 1992.
