[ LTFRB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 98-004, January 20, 1998 ]

TOURIST TRANSPORT SERVICES




In accordance with Item No. 8 of DOTC Dept. Order No. 97-1097, providing standard classification for all public land-based transport conveyances, applications for franchises to operate "Tourist Transport Services" may propose the use of the following vehicle types:
1.  Sedan;
2.  Asian Utility Vehicles;
3.  Van;
4.  Pick-up;
5.  Station Wagon;
6.  Mini-Coach or Coach,
for special tour trips, without fixed routes, to/from any tourist area, with no picking-up of passengers along the way. The ventilation of the motor vehicle may either be ordinary or airconditioned, with fare rates as may be approved by this Board.

The application for "Tourist Transport Services" shall invariably be accompanied by, among other requirements, an accreditation by the Philippine Tourism Authority.

Operators with subsisting Certificates of Public Convenience (CPCs), with the use of any or all of the above vehicle types, originally denominated as "Tourist Bus, Tourist Car", etc., may continue operating the unit/s until the expiry date/s of the CPCs. Thereafter, no application/petition for extension of validity of the expiring/expired CPC shall be accepted. However, operators may opt to file applications for conversion of their units into "TRANSPORT TOURIST SERVICES" anytime during the subsistence of their respective CPCs.

All issuances, or parts thereof, which are inconsistent herewith are hereby modified accordingly and/or superseded/revoked.

This Memorandum Circular shall take effect fifteen (15) days after the filing of three (3) copies hereof with the U.P. Law Center, in accordance with Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11, dated October 9, 1992.
