[ DOH MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR, August 01, 1980 ]

DELINEATION OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF P.D. 856 AT THE MANILA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND AT THE NORTH AND SOUTH HARBORS OF MANILA



In line with provisions of R.A. 123 and in order to achieve maximum efficiency, the responsibility for the implementation of P.D. 856, otherwise known as the Sanitation Code of the Philippines, particularly Chapters II, III and XV to XVIII thereof, in the Manila International Airport and at the North and South Harbors of Manila, shall devolve solely on the Bureau of Quarantine, this Ministry.

The Bureau of Quarantine shall thereby exercise supervision and control over the sanitation of eating establishments, issue the necessary sanitary permits thereto and their employ-MIA, including airline catering points and at the Manila North and South Harbors.

In the latter, the piers and all establishments within the fence along the North Bay Boulevard shall be included under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Quarantine.  Local health authorities formerly covering those areas shall henceforth desist from doing so.

All previous orders and memoranda inconsistent herewith are hereby rescinded.

This will take effect immediately.
